Deanna Skinner.

Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. 

Deanna has practiced the arts from an early age, and has continued to develop her skills as a visual artist by her interest to experiment with a variety of mediums and styles.  Deanna’s more recent work in primarily in mixed media, combining acrylic with an oil finish.  Much of her work is applied with palette knives for a very textured and almost 3 dimensional effect.

Deanna and her husband, Rob live on the ocean in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia and they spend their summers sailing and their winter vacations skiing in Vail, Colorado.  Rob owns a national travel agency chain, Maritime Travel, where Deanna works as Vice President of Marketing and also manages the store design and construction. They love to travel all over the world and of course leads to inspiration for much of the subjects of her paintings. 

Popular subjects include wildlife, seascapes, mountain scenes, and colorful European street scenes. Many incorporating lots of color, dramatic lighting and more recently texture. 

A graduate of St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce, major in Marketing.  Deanna attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in the Fashion program and has taken various visual arts courses at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
